CDC’s approach to learning and the enterprise of education is philosophically and methodologically aligned with constructivist theories, assumptions, and praxis (Dewey, Vytgotsky, Montessori et al). We strive to create curricula, activities, materials, and experiences that are structured, engaging, authentic, interactive, and reflective. For us, the best learning is grounded in positive interaction with each other, exchanging information about what we think, feel, and believe, through what we write, say, do, and make. Such exchanges of information become the basis for deeper understandings about ourselves, each other, and the worlds in which we live and imagine. |

Dan designed and directed a groundbreaking, five-state early childhood technology and social development education project for low-income children and families. In diverse communities from Seattle to Omaha, Jemez Pueblo, and the Navajo Nation, Dan gained unique insights regarding the strengths and resilience of children and families of minority communities along with the challenges they face in preserving and strengthening their identities while advancing educationally and economically in the majority culture. |
